Kia Ora, I’m Kell Sunshine—a muralist, lettering artist, and illustrator from the East Coast of Aotearoa/New Zealand. I am deeply inspired by the interconnectedness of all living beings, and my work is a celebration of this bond. My distinctive creative style features vibrant, retro-inspired colour palettes and flowing, curvaceous forms.
I work with values-aligned brands to help communicate ideas with clarity, warmth, and character. Using hand lettering and illustration, I help bring shape to complex messages and stories that need to be told—visually translating them in ways that feel human and thoughtful. My approach is rooted in curiosity and collaboration.
My murals and personal work often center around soil-sorceress protagonists; characters that embody the earth’s wisdom and magic. The underlying themes of my artworks highlight ecological awareness, with the aim of inspiring viewers to share my reverence for the natural world.
With 16 years of experience in the industry, I’ve built a colourful portfolio that spans a wide range of creative projects from album covers and tarot card design to gig posters, beverage labels, jigsaws, and vehicle graphics. I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with over 250 clients and painting 50+ murals across New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, the US Virgin Islands, Greece, and Indonesia. I’ve shared my expertise at conferences and on podcasts, and am delighted to be one of five directing members of The League of Live Illustrators.
